December 5, 2014 Ice Climbing Report (Thanks Francis)

Highway 99 South – Duffey Lake Road

A small BCMC outing led by Francis headed up to the Duffey on Thursday (Dec 4). Here’s their report:

Not a bad day on Rambles Center. Early season with some wet ice and some thin sections, but generally protectable. Left side of Top Tier (Robin Hood?) looked in challenging condition — the first 10m or so is very thin and unprotectable with ice screws. We stayed on the main top step (Right Variation) and mostly stayed off the main flow (aka Left Variation) — it isn’t yet touching down and is quite delicate.

We didn’t go look at Rambles Right, but from the bits we could see from the road the dihedral seemed in and quite fat.
