February 25, 2014 Ice Climbing Report (Thanks Scott and Adam)

Highway 99 North – Marble Canyon

We (Scott and co.) met Lyle and Gary last Saturday at Icy BC. Great guys! We returned the next day (Feb 23) and temps were significantly colder. Setting up at the base I heard a large craaaaack (no one on the ice at the time). Later while TR-ing Deeping Wall a party started climbing on Icy BC, moving up the easy right side to gain the column. One of their first swings produced another very loud crack, and they said they could see the crack go through the curtain (this is the first short pitch if breaking pitch 1 into two). Something to consider as Spring approaches!

My first trip to Lillooet, very awesome, and your site (especially the frequent updates) provides constant motivation and inspiration to us poor souls stuck down here in Portland, OR.

Highway 99 South – Cal Cheak

It was my (Adam’s) group, “Youth Inclusion Program” that TR’ed at Cal Cheak on Feb 21st (see yesterday’s post). 12-15 year old boys, first time ice climbing for them… it was great. Some pics from the trip below.
