January 31, 2012 Ice Climbing Report (Thanks Ross)

Highway 99 South – Duffey Lake Road

Jan 29: Climbed the Rambles Center. Still in good shape. Thin and wet, but good ice for climbing and accepted 16-19cm screws.
Ramble Upper Tier – right lines are in; still very wet. The leftmost lines are still too thin to protect. +7C in the parking lot.

Jan 30: Loose Lady – climbed from the bottom of the gully. Good, wet ice the whole way. The proper WI3 pitch is formed, but running with water; climbable with full gore-tex. Final WI5 pitch looks formed from the highway. +7C again in the parking lot. Looks like a lot of ice around Lillooet took a beating this weekend.

Highway 99 South – Blackcomb Mountain

Jan 31: Climbed at The Office – climbed the easiest, most formed line.  Not much ice, but there are at least 2 climbable lines, probably WI3 and WI5. Fragile ice.
