December 5, 2011 (Thanks Peter and Brian)

AKA maybe we’ll have ice by Christmas?

Highway 99 South – Duffey Lake Road

Went for a scouting trip out to Rambles today.  It is starting to form but has a ways to go.  It didn’t look very well attached either.  On a plus note Marble Canyon has not fallen down with this warm spell, though it is quite wet still.

Rambles

Rambles anemic for now

I was sick of waiting so we (Peter and Mike) went searching. After a gear malfunction, while hoping to head into North Joffre Creek, we turned around and headed to the Rambles. Anemic would be how to describe the conditions. Climbed Rambles Left with maybe more moss then ice. Upper Tier is coming along, but needs a week more or so. After climbing to the top of the third tier, we rapped back down and crossed over to the Upper Middle Rambles. Anemic again. Lead the Right-hand variation and top roped the Center and Left Center. Good fun, but needs more water and cold.

On a good note, Shreddie has appeared this year; I hope it fattens up. Bottom pitch of Center Rambles was climbable, but really thin on the last step of it. Could see PS Dihedral from the road and no ice to the top of it.
