Highway 5 – Coquihalla
NEW ROUTE
Thar She Blows WI3+ 75m FA Werner Grzimek and Don Montrichard January 30, 2011
On Sunday, January 30, 2011, Werner Grzimek and I (Don Montrichard) climbed a new WI3+ route located on the north side of Thar Peak, about ten minutes’ walking time past the west end of Falls Lake (access from Highway #5).

The route consists of a 40 metre WI3 flow, followed by 20 metres of lower-angled snow and ice, and finishes with a 12-15 metre vertical pillar. Descent was by means of several rappels from trees at the side of the route.

Believed to be a new route (was not formed in February 2010, when we last visited this area; no rappel slings or other evidence of previous climbers found) – I think we are calling it “Thar She Blows“.
