January 29, 2011 (Thanks BJ)

Highway 99 South – Duffey Lake Road to Pemberton
Colder today. About -5C at The Rambles and in town. About 12 cm new snow last night on the Duffey. Rambles was a little thin – thinner than two weeks ago.
Synchronicity appears fat up top, but very thin at base, as seen from road (Pictures to follow later).
The Tube is thin, but looked okay.
We heard that The Plum was totally not in (Pemberton).

  1. Wanted to climb plumb yesterday but turned around. It is still in but flowing heavily on the first pitch. Maybe possible to the right of the waterfall, there was ice all the way. 15cm of new snow detered us from the sneak around. Upper pitches looked OK as far as we could see.

Loose Lady lower pitches and Tube were still up but both looked like they were just hanging on and dangerously undercut and detached (will heal with this cold).

Ended up climbing at the Rambles were there was 15cm of new snow low down and 25cm high up. The ice was smoothed over by the warm temperatures last week and then the cold yesterday made it very brittle. TV size dinner plates with every swing or kick, especially where the snow didn’t insulate it.
