Highway 99 North – Marble Canyon (after a brief stint on the Duffey)
On the 17th we (Peter Watson and co.) drove to Carl’s Berg, but after having my boot fill with water halfway up I ask if I was having fun, made a thread and returned to my towel at the bottom. We packed up and drove up to Marble. A big group was there trying Deeping Wall which was wet, but not showering. So we hopped on the first pitch of Icy BC. Lots of water running and the top left was an open hole. Staying to the right as much as possible made the climbing harder but we stayed dry.
On the 18th we returned to Marble. After cool temps the night before, we were hoping for better conditions. But the re-frozen ice was brittle, shitty, with huge dinner plates. Again I backed off just below the top of the first pillar and set up a TR that we played on all day long. Five different lines were available with a couple of directional screws up high.
